Baby Shower

My beautiful mom and my beautiful sister hosted our baby shower this past Saturday. Showers are a funny thing to me. It’s really rather awkward, in my opinion, being the center of attention, sitting around opening gifts while everyone else watches… but showers are also a sweet reminder of how much you are loved, and how blessed you are to have so many people in your life who genuinely care. It’s a reminder that God loves us, and He demonstrates His love and care for us through the people He places in our lives.

The shower was very low key; just family and close friends, all the women who make up my “village” if you will. My mom and sister went with a “Sweet Dreams” theme, and everything was blue, teal, and silver. My mom printed the covers of classic children’s books and nursery rhymes, and she taped them to all of her frames, which was one of my favorite ways they decorated. My other favorite was the cake; not only was it out of this world delicious, but it was beautiful. One of my mom’s best friends made the cake, and my uber-talented sister made the decorations out of fondant.

We spent the afternoon chatting, playing games, and opening gifts. With each gift that I opened, my heart swelled a little bit more. Everyone’s thoughtfulness and attention to detail touched my heart, and seeing all the stuff my baby will get to use one, and trying to picture him using them… that was wild! We were beyond, beyond blessed by our dear friends and family, and I am feeling now like this baby could come into the world tomorrow, and he’d be all set.

I, on the other hand, am still a nervous wreck and would probably pass out if that were to actually happen, lol!
