15 weeks came and went, and I still feel great! We are now at 16 weeks, and though I’m sure Baby Seliga is developing nicely inside his/her little cocoon, I on the other hand, am not developing quite as nicely. True confessions: it is awful watching yourself get “fat”. I think I have hit that point where there is no hiding the fact that I am with child. No longer can I stand up straight, lift and tuck, and perhaps look like I had a cheeseburger for lunch. There is now the tell-tale little “pooch” or “pouch” that indicates a baby is cooking. And for this momma, watching my body change over this past week has been rather mortifying and horrifying. This week marks that point all the books and your friends tell you about—that point where none of your regular clothes fit, but you’re still too small for maternity wear. Your middle is thick, your rear is expanding, and your legs are growing… everyone thinks it’s beautiful, but I just want to curl underneath my blankets and emerge next spring, after baby has arrived. Or maybe next fall, once the baby weight is mostly gone J
Ok, enough of that. Since I didn’t write a 15 weeks entry, here are a few highlights. We took our first “baby bump” picture. In hindsight, I wish I took them from the beginning, even if there wasn’t much of “baby bump” to show off, just so that we could see the progression. Then I thought I would just not document my “growth”, but Denny suggested that we take a weekly belly picture, so here it is…
On this day, I actually had a complete stranger guess that I was pregnant. I still don’t know how I feel about that. I guess it was kind of cool (better than the alternative, I suppose!). It was also on this day that I discovered that this baby does NOT like chocolate cake! {Audible Gasps!} We celebrated my mom and my sister’s birthdays and I made the chocolate raspberry cake that has become a staple at family celebrations. Well, wouldn’t you know that we got home and I just wasn’t feeling all that well. It had been about a week and half since the last time I’d gotten sick, but thankfully this wasn’t MS, it was just the chocolate cake not sitting well in my stomach. We’re not sure if this child actually belongs to us, since Denny and I both LOVE chocolate. Any guesses who he/she will take after?
15 weeks Baby Stats-- Navel Orange
- The average fetus at 15 weeks wieghs 2.5 oz and measures 4 in. His/Her proportions are becoming even more normal now, since legs outmeasure arms.
- Probably can't feel it yet, but he/she is squirming a ton!
- He/She might be hiccuping in there :)
- Joints and limbs can all move now!
